According to the data of the United Nations Environment Programme, the global plastic waste has reached 4.9 billion tons, of which only 9% has been recycled. As the main pollution source of water, soil and ocean, waste plastics that are difficult to degrade are still a global "big problem".

On June 5, the 47th "World Environment Day", the United Nations Environment Programme proposed the theme of "quick decision in plastic war", calling for solving the problem of disposable plastic pollution. This year, China also put forward the Chinese theme of "beautiful China, I am an actor", which complements each other.

Recycling of waste plastics is imminent

It is understood that the disposal methods of waste plastics in the world include landfill, incineration, regeneration granulation and pyrolysis. The landfill method is widely used, but the hidden dangers and hazards are relatively large, which increases the use pressure of land resources. The refractory plastics seriously impede the infiltration of groundwater, and the additives in the plastics cause secondary pollution of the land. The incineration method, which is also widely used, makes it difficult to deal with the toxic substances produced. Opposition to the construction of garbage power plants occurs from time to time. The recycling granulation method also has its limitations. A large number of low-quality waste plastics can not be used for recycling granulation, and water resources are wasted. This is not the ultimate solution.

In this context, the treatment of waste plastics has become a direction that countries are trying to overcome. The recycling of waste plastics is a "systematic project". On the one hand, it is necessary to continue to strengthen control from the source and guide plastic producers to consider recycling. On the other hand, from the recycling side, we have established a waste plastic recycling system. Plastics are petroleum products, and it is a real cycle to restore them to petroleum. Every ton of plastics recycled can save 3785-7570 liters of gasoline. We need to make clear that waste plastics are renewable resources, and take the energy utilization of waste plastics as an important part of improving China's energy conservation and emission reduction and developing the circular economy.

Pyrolysis technology becomes a breakthrough

Compared with the waste plastic treatment technology mentioned above, the pyrolysis technology with outstanding advantages is receiving more and more policy support and industry affirmation in recent years. This technology truly realizes the harmless and resource-based treatment of waste plastics, with prominent advantages of safety, environmental protection, high efficiency and energy conservation.

Pyrolysis refers to the process of thermal decomposition of organic substances in solid waste in a pyrolysis reactor by taking advantage of their thermal instability. This technology can convert waste plastics into high value-added energy products such as fuel oil, natural gas and solid fuels, and is the most important ultimate treatment means of polymer wastes.

In recent years, the scale of environmental protection equipment manufacturing industry has expanded rapidly, the development mode has been constantly innovated, the service field has been continuously widened, and the technical level has been greatly improved. In a limited environment, there are not many resources to waste. To declare war on plastics is not to use plastics, it is also a resource. It requires scientific and technological innovation and new solutions to achieve effective recycling and meet the needs of social development.
